In today’s regular season finale, the Robins traveled to the Andover YMCA to play the Anoka-Hennepin Mustangs in what turned out to be the North Conference championship game. After a slow start for both teams, the Robins broke the game open with a grand-slam from Vincent Luu in the 3rd inning, giving the Robins a 5-0 lead. As they always do, Anoka continued to chip away at the Robins lead, tying the game at 5 in the 5th inning. On a super close play at first base with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th, the Anoka runner beat the ball to first base, allowing the game winning run to score, giving them the conference title and the #1 seed at State. Overall, the Robins played a great game. Cory Tesch filled in admirably for the regular starting pitcher, Sam Roles. Tesch pitched the entire game, allowing 4 earned runs while striking out 4 Anoka batters. The Robins will now have more than 2 weeks to prepare for the state tournament at Coon Rapids H.S. on June 2 & 3.
