Over the weekend, the Robins were hard at work at the 2017 adapted floor hockey state tournament. In the quarterfinals on Friday evening, the Robins battled back after trailing 3-0 and 4-1 to defeat the #2 ranked Dakota United Hawks, 5-4 in double overtime. On Saturday morning, against the #1 and undefeated Brainerd Warriors, the Robins struggled to do what they tend to do well and were out of sync for most of the game, falling to the eventual State Champions, 11-0. In the third place game, the Robins came to life and played their game for all three periods. They traded goals with the Rochester Raiders for the first 35 minutes before pulling away late in the final period to claim the third place trophy with a nice 7-4 win. Andy Hanson and Vincent Luu handled all of the goal scoring for the Robins, with Hanson tallying 5 goals and 4 assists, while Luu added 7 goals. Sam Roles had 3 assists, while Izear Joiner added 2 of his own. Goaltender Hayley Engebretsen played all 148 minutes of the tournament, making 94 stops, including many that turned out to be game altering against both Dakota and Rochester. Engebretsen and Hanson were named to the 2017 Wells Fargo All-Tournament Team.
