About The Robins P.I. Team

The Robins PI (GOLD) team is an Adapted Athletics team for students with Physical Impairments. The Robins are a co-ed high school varsity sports team. Each year our team plays Adapted Soccer (Fall), Adapted Floor Hockey (Winter) and Adapted Softball (Spring). All of our games are held indoors in a gymnasium against 10 to 13 teams (depending on the sport) from all over the Twin Cities and state of Minnesota.

Adapted Athletics is an official Varsity sports program and a member of the (MSHSL). Our team covers students in grades 7 through 12 from Robbinsdale Armstrong High School, Robbinsdale Cooper High School, Hopkins High School and Mound Westonka High School and those districts Middle Schools.

The Robins program is run by Robbinsdale District #281 Area Schools. The Adapted Athletics teams are administered by the high schools activities departments. Robbinsdale Armstrong’s Activities Director coordinates the Robins P.I. Division Team (aka. GOLD  Team). Robbinsdale Cooper’s Activities Director coordinates  the Robins C.I. Division Team (aka. BLUE Team).

Our P.I. Team has a DVD full of information, highlights, and player/parent interviews. Our DVD is intended to aid in the promotion and recruiting of athletes for P.I. adapted athletics. Any school staff or families are able to get a FREE copy of the DVD by contacting the coaches or athletic department. We also have a short online video available on this web site!

Students, family and friends are encouraged to come cheer on the Robins at our home games held at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School Gymnasium (free admission)! For more information please email us, contact the coaches through this web site, or contact your schools activities department.

Benefits of the Team

Adapted Athletics is a great opportunity for students with disabilities to be on a competitive sports team and earn their Varsity Letter from their High School for competing in all three sports in one year. This program allows students to learn and play team sports and compete against other teams from around the state. The social opportunities of being on a team are tremendous and students really succeed in this program.

Our Team History

The Robins adapted team was started in 1983 as the Robbinsdale Robins and represented the Robbinsdale District #281 Area Schools. In recent years our program has partnered with nearby school districts to allow more students the opportunity to play adapted sports and generate the interest to possibly generate new teams. Hopkins, WayzataMound Westonka and schools have been a part of our program in recent years. The team name the Robins comes from the old Robbinsdale Senior High School Robins.
