The Robins kicked off the floor hockey regular season this afternoon with a home game against the Brainerd Warriors. This game was very tight through one period, with Brainerd leading just 3-0 at the first break. The Robins got on the board halfway through the second period on a goal by Jose Leon Estrada to make it 4-1, but then Brainerd capitalized on several defensive mistakes by the Robins late in the period and scored three times in the final 1:34 to take a 7-1 lead into the third period. Estrada found the net again for the Robins in the third period, and while their offensive and defensive intensity was much better than in the first two periods, it just wasn’t enough to overcome the large defecit, and the Warriors left town with a 9-2 victory. The Robins are back in action next Wednesday, January 18, with a game at the Andover YMCA vs. Anoka-Hennepin.
